The zoo offers several hours of pleasant pastime for its visitors.
This is the youngest zoo of Hungary. It has been expecting visitors since 1989.
Spanning almost 45 hectares it is the zoo with the biggest territory in the country.
It has a unique animal collection, and it is conducting nature conservation and educational
activities that are outstanding in the region. Under the leafs of trees and on the shores of lakes,
a plethora of animals await you in spacious yards.
You can watch birds, mammals and reptiles from all around the globe (e.g., kangaroos, gibbons, lions,
ostriches, snakes, etc.). Some of them can only be found here in Hungary. Beside wild animals,
the typical domestic animals of a farm of the South-Hungarian region can be seen in a small skansen
as well.
Being a member of the World Association of Zoos and
Aquaria and the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria, it participates in several international
species conservation programmes (EEP, ESB). One fourth of all of our species take part in such programmes,
which is the highest ratio in Hungary.
